We believe that faith is a journey best traveled with others who share common values and a common commitment to life together. We're striving to be formed as a community steeped in God’s love, expressed in loving relationships with one another, and engaged in the larger community in which we live.
In a world where it's easy ~ and sometimes tempting ~ to live an isolated life, we place a high value on the deep and loving relationships that are formed through everyday experiences as we share life together.
Authentic Christian community is so much more than showing up for the "weekly event"... so much more than a quick handshake after sitting passively through worship... so much more than shallow small-talk before rushing out the door to get back to life-as-usual. Authentic Christian community is about a deep sense of belonging. It's about sharing life together. It's about laughing with one another in times of celebration and sharing our deepest pain with each other in the midst of life's struggles. It's about breaking bread together, caring for sisters and brothers in need, sharing our resources, helping one another cultivate a deeper experience of God, holding one another accountable in love, and sharing all the mysteries of life and faith.
The early church used the Greek word koinonia to describe their experience of this kind of community. It was a community growing inward through shared spiritual practices and outward through acts of compassion, mercy, and justice. It's this koinonia community that we're seeking.
